Yaysan Negeri Sembilan came back from the dead to register a 2-1 win over Nur Insafi Penang at the National Hockey Stadium tonight.Trailing until the 59th minute, YNS struck a purple patch in the closing 11 minutes to score two goals from penalty corners to snatch all three points in a match that was billed as a battle of foreigners as both teams took full advantage of the foreign player ruling and fielded six players each.
With the win YNS maintained their winning form over the Penang team as they had beaten them 4-2 and 6-1 last season.
For Nur Insafi, they had four Pakistani players - Khasif Ali, Abdul Asim Khan, Imran Khan Yousof Zai and Syed Sibtain Raza Naqvi while their Indian imports were Prem Kumar and Damandeep Singh.
In contrast all the YNS imports were from Pakistan - Nasir Ahmad, Ihsan Ullah Khan, Shahbaz Ali, Muhammad Mudassar, Aamir Shahzad and Muhammad Irfan Ali Khan.
Nur Insafi were awarded a penalty corner in the 9th minute. And the attempt by Nur Hrsikesa hit Ihsan Ullah Khan on the YNS goal line, thus forcing umpire K. Kanaisan to signal for a penalty stroke.
But Khasif Ali failed from the spot as his weak attempt was easily saved by YNS custodian Nasir Ahmad.
However the Penang based team were not to be denied and in the 24th minute Mohammad Harris Fadila Zulkifli scored to give Nur Insafi a 1-0 lead over YNS.
YNS forced a series of penalty corners, four within a space of five minutes, but failed to find the mark from anyone of them .And off the fifth, Ihsan Ullah Khan sent a powerful flick only to be parried away by Nur Insafi keeper Ezuan Ghazali.
They wasted another two penalty corners before making it count from the eight attempt as Ihsan sent his drag fkick into the top net to put YNS level in the 59th minute.
And Ihsan made it count in the 67th minute as this time his low push caught the Nur Insafi defence and the Seremban outfit held on to register a 2-1 win.
Meanwhile in the Division One match played at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Bukit Jalil Sports School defeated Ipoh City Council 6-0. And at the Ministry of Education Stadium, SSTMI-Thunderbolt defeated Uniten 4-2.
